About BFERC

Bangladesh Fire and Explosion Research Centre (BFERC) collaborates with industry, academia, government agencies, and international partners to advance fire safety, explosion prevention, and disaster resilience across the nation. Established as a specialised national centre, BFERC is dedicated to addressing the growing challenges of industrial hazards, urban safety, and community preparedness through research, innovation, and capacity building.

The centre conducts applied scientific research on fire dynamics, explosion mechanisms, and process safety, translating knowledge into practical solutions for industries and communities. BFERC also provides consultancy services, policy recommendations, and technical expertise to support the development and implementation of effective fire and explosion management strategies.

Training and education are at the heart of BFERC’s activities. The centre organises capacity-building programmes for professionals, safety officers, and first responders, while also raising public awareness on fire safety practices and disaster preparedness. By fostering collaborations with local and international institutions, BFERC promotes knowledge exchange, technology transfer, and the adoption of global best practices.

BFERC’s ultimate goal is to build a safer, sustainable, and resilient Bangladesh where fire and explosion risks are effectively minimised through innovation, education, and shared responsibility.
