The Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) of the Bangladesh Fire and Explosion Research Centre (BFERC) serves as the principal body providing strategic scientific direction and expert advice to the Centre. Comprising distinguished academicians, researchers, and professionals from diverse fields such as chemical engineering, fire science, industrial safety, environmental management, and risk analysis, the SAC plays a vital role in shaping the Centre’s research priorities and promoting excellence in fire and explosion science.
The Committee supports the Executive Board by:
- Advising on scientific priorities, emerging global trends, and innovative research directions relevant to Bangladesh’s context.
- Evaluating the scientific merit of proposed and ongoing research projects to ensure rigor, quality, and relevance.
- Recommending collaborative research, training programs, and knowledge-exchange initiatives with national and international institutions.
- Guiding the development of research publications, technical reports, and policy papers that influence safety governance and industrial best practices.
- Providing expert opinions and reviews on specialized technical matters referred by the Executive Board or Executive Director.

Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) Members
The Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) of the Bangladesh Fire and Explosion Research Centre (BFERC) serves as the principal technical body that provides expert advice, operational insights, and practical guidance in matters related to fire safety, explosion prevention, and process safety management. The Committee comprises seasoned professionals, engineers, safety specialists, and industry experts who possess extensive field experience and technical knowledge in industrial operations, fire protection systems, and risk management practices.
The TAC assists the Executive Board and the management of BFERC by:
- Offering technical guidance on fire safety engineering, explosion risk assessment, and hazard mitigation strategies.
- Assisting in the development, review, and standardization of national guidelines, codes of practice, and technical protocols relevant to fire and explosion safety.
- Evaluating the feasibility and effectiveness of projects, pilot studies, and applied research initiatives undertaken by the Centre.
- Supporting industry-academia collaboration, technology transfer, and professional training programs for capacity building.
- Providing technical expertise and input in investigations of major fire and explosion incidents when requested by the Executive Board or Executive Director.
